About Fire GelAbout Fire Gel
We are the official distributor of Farmlight fire gel products in the UK, supplying domestic customers and a number of top hotels and restaurants. The Old Dutch Farmlight brand has been trusted for over 40 years and is most famous for lamp oil. However, Farmlight fire gel maintains this tradition of quality. Farmlight fire gel is made from the purest ingredients to produce a quality, clean burning, smokeless and odourless ethanol based gel. Farmlight is produced in the EU and has been tested and certified to EU safety standards for domestic use. Fire Gel - Frequently Asked Questions 1. What is fire gel? Fire gel is a mixture of denatured ethanol produced from maize and isopropyl. 2. Does it produce smoke? Fire gel does not produce smoke or soot and does not require a chimney or flue. 3. When the fire gel is burned, what is produced? When fire gel is burnt, the output is similar to that of a candle. The gel produces water vapour and CO2. The CO2 output is 75% less than wood or coal. 4. Is fire gel environmentally friendly? Yes. Fire gel is made from renewable plant materials (90%). To limit the mileage of the ingredients and the impact of the production process, we only source fire gel from within the EU (we use the nearest production facility to the UK market) and ensure the production process only utilises local ingredients. The gel is sold in PET recyclable plastic containers and dispatched in a cardboard box made from recycled board. When used, fire gel produces water vapour and a small amount of CO2 (75% less than alternative fuels). 5. Is it safe? Yes. Our fire gel has been tested and certified to EU safety standards in Holland and Germany. Safety regulations in Holland and Germany currently exceed those in the UK for this type of product. 6. Why is your gel yellow? The main reason the gel is coloured yellow is to comply with safety laws in some EU countries which mean the gel has to be coloured to avoid being confused with water and easier to identify if spilled. A natural colouring is used to create the rich yellow colour. The benefit of the colouring is that the flame produced is a rich orange colour and so looks much more realistic than other gels on the market. Clear gels often produce a blue flame, which looks more like a gas fire than a real flame fire. 7. Does your gel produce a realistic crackling noise? Yes. A gentle cracking noise is produced when the gel is burnt to create a very realistic real flame fire. 8. Do you offer bulk discounts? Yes. We can offer you trade prices for orders of 1 pallet (60 boxes) or more. For smaller orders, we regularly monitor the marketplace to ensure we are the most competitive supplier of fire gel. |
