The summer is here and it is time to spend time outdoors. You could use a firebowl to light up your time there.

Firebowls or gel burners are great to use outdoors, they add atmosphere to your garden for an evening party. They are also wonderful as a centrepiece for a romantic dinner.

However, there is an even better reason to use a firebowl in your garden. You could use it as an insect repellent and add some scent to your garden at the same time.

Citronella is an essential oil obtained from a variety of scented grasses that grow in tropical areas like Sri Lanka. This essential oil has been cultivated for a while to be used in the production of soaps, cleaning products and especially insect repellents.

After a lot of research, you have decided that you would like to purchase an ethanol fireplace. Now you can start thinking of the best design. You just found the one you like and then you realise there are two versions of the same fireplace, a gel and a liquid version, now what to do?

We have created a comparison list to make your decision easier.

		Liquid is very similar to water, therefore needs extra care to avoid confusion.
	The UK market offers a more affordable prices for gel ethanol refills than liquid ethanol.
	Gel ethanol fireplaces have been in use for more than 20 years.	Relatively new product.

FireSource Fire Gel – As seen on stage

You can see FireSource fire gel live on stage during performances of Shraddha at the Soho Theatre, London from 17 – 21st November 2009.

We’ve noticed a number of theatres across the country placing orders for FireSource gel fuel to be used on stage during their performances.

Fire gel, while designed for use at home as a clean, smokeless solution to enable people to enjoy a real flame fire without a chimney or a flue is ideal for on stage use as it offers a safe and inexpensive alternative to gas or wood (which would fill the theatre with smoke!) and of course its clean burning, smokeless and produces a large, rich yellow flame very quickly. The story is set in Stratford, East London and tells the story a family who have been affected by construction works for the London 2012 Olympic Games and found themselves moved on to make way for the new stadium. This scene depicts a campfire created by some of the former residents who have been made homeless by the construction works.

Gel Fire Tips: Caring for Stainless Steel

These days stainless steel is incredibly popular, from fridge freezers to plant pots, its present in all sorts of places in our homes. Several of our feature fireplaces are part or all brushed stainless steel, such as the Milan, Edge and Eclipse gel fireplaces.

So how do you keep it clean and shiny? What about those sticky fingerprints left by the kids?

Many cleaning products are too harsh or abrasive for brushed stainless steel and can actually harm the finish of your fireplace.

A cheap and easy tip for maintaining the stainless steel areas is to use a few drops of baby oil on a soft, lint free cloth. Gently clean the stainless steel and always work in the direction of the brush.
